HISTORY OF THIS PUPPET

This puppet is based on an Afro-Brazilian deity called Oxum who is the goddess of sweet waters, divinity, femininity, fertility, beauty and love (who also comes in many other forms from the African diaspora) leading back to ancient roots in the Yoruba traditions of West Africa.

The Light Spirit: designed by Iola Weir with Global Grooves Future Leaders students and further developed by Cabasa.
