Got an itch to stitch? We have the perfect course for you! We’re offering an 8 week online hand embroidery course for women in Greater Manchester who are unemployed. You’ll learn a variety of techniques from our embroidery expert and come away with a finished garment.
We’ll be sending out kits to you at home so you can become the needle wielding ninja you were born to be (from the safety of your living room.)
We have been funded by the European Social Fund to put on a series of courses in textiles for women living in Greater Manchester who are currently unemployed*
ABOUT THE COURSE
> Basic decorative stitches progressing to more complex stitches whilst completing an embroidery hoop art piece. You’ll then learn how to mount and back your piece so you can hang it on the wall.
> Basic beading techniques and complete a small sample piece with these techniques.
> Designing embroidery for garments and hoops looking at a wide range of examples. Create a design that you will then embroider onto a garment combining the stitches and techniques that you’ve learnt so far.
> Learn how to mark out your design onto your chosen garment and embroider your design. You’ll finish the course with a unique embroidered garment that you’ve designed and created yourself!

ABOUT YOUR TUTOR
“ Having loved hand embroidery and cross stitch from a young age I studied Costume Design with Textiles at Huddersfield University, specialising in Embroidery. After Uni I became embroidery technician at the uni I studied at for a year, teaching students and getting to learn more couture embroidery techniques. After working at the university I went freelance as a costume maker in theatre and set up my own embroidery company, Flying Pig Embroidery in 2016 specialising in digital embroidery design but still doing hand embroidery. Since then I’ve been costume making and creating embroidery pieces for my company, and creating embroidery for fashion and bridal designers, theatre & ballet shows, and for film and TV. Most recently I have been doing embroidery for the Sky series Cobra, and the BBC series Gentleman Jack.”
