LAUREN MOORE

Lauren is a freelance Manchester-based artist and designer who specialises in carnival, outdoor and community arts. She grew up attending street festivals such as “Streets Ahead” and started dancing in Manchester School of Samba around the same time as beginning her Textiles and Jewellery Design degree, which is where her interests of carnival and creating collided. She particularly loves working with painted textiles and sculpted metalwork, especially when these elements combine to create a performance piece such as a costume or puppet. She has had the privilege to work on many beautiful projects and especially enjoys collaborative pieces that involve communities.

She has travelled around the UK and internationally studying carnival traditions in visual arts and dance as well as performing with Samba and Maracatu groups in the UK and Brazil. Currently she dances with Manchester-based percussion collection Juba do Leão and will volunteer for anything that involves wearing costumes, getting messy and having a good time!
