ABOUT THE COURSE

You can be part of the magic of Carnival by learning how structures and bigger costume pieces that wow audiences far and wide are made.

This introductory course will focus on group work and community Carnival processes involved in making several backpack pieces, so everyone will work towards the final piece and have a go at all the processes involved.

We will mainly focus on dressing a final piece by creating the fabric and learn the fundamentals of how they are put together.

This course will be working towards being part of a large exciting national event, more TBC!

YOU'LL LEARN

> Scaling up and interpreting designs
> Batik (hot wax on silk)
> Silk painting
> Rodding (making the structure stable)
> Simple backpack design & more!

There will be lots more opportunities to get involved after the course too.
