Can you help us spread the word? Download our e-flyer below if you know any organisations or people to email this opportunity:

Batik is the process of applying hot wax to fabric (we mainly use silk and cotton) which acts as a resist. We then hand paint the fabric with dyes and use this fabric in stunning costumes, amazing giant structures, beautiful flags and more!

Here at Cabasa we create all of our own fabric for costume to be used for Carnival and other outdoor events.

If you’re interested in textiles, carnival, costume, getting hands on or just learning a new skill, this is the course for you!

In this free (now online) course we’ll take you through the history of this amazing art form then get practical from designing, waxing and dyeing silk with our lovely in-house artists Lizzie and Lauren.

At the end of the course you’ll come away with a beautiful silk scarf and have the opportunity transfer your new skills onto our large-scale projects later down the line…or why not start your own project?

At your place!

Originally this course was to take place face-to-face in our venue in Mossley, however due to Government guidelines we've moved it online*. This course is still very hands on and practical. We will be sending you batik packs in the post, including wax pots, dyes, silk, templates and more!

You'll need access to Zoom software and a stable internet connection.

We can support you with some digital access requirements.

If you have any questions, please email Kate at: [email protected] or call 01457 238 089.

*If the current situation changes we'll discuss with the group about some face-to-face delivery.

Please fill out the form below, or if you have any questions please email Kate at [email protected] or call  01457 238 089.
